Conservation Delivered: Millions to Rice Growers & Habitat Gained

June 5, 2026

We're excited to share a snapshot of the conservation impact California rice growers have collectively achieved since 2012.

Through advocacy and support, more than $54M federal, state and private dollars has reached rice growers, directed by the California Rice Commission and California Ricelands Waterbird Foundation – funding delivered across 2,223 contracts that created over 1.22M acres of habitat.

The CRC and the Foundation have directly managed nearly $30M to create more than 598,600 acres through roughly 1,400 contracts.

Thank you for being a cornerstone of this work. Whether you've participated in our winter flooding, salmon, or shorebird programs, or partners’ programs, your fields are creating habitat for countless species and are showing how critical rice is in the Sacramento Valley.
