Armyworm numbers appear to be dropping

Here’s a link to the latest update in the fight against the armyworm.

UCCE Rice Advisor Luis Espino reports overall armyworm numbers appear to be declining, however the numbers are still high in some locations.

Espino says he currently has not had any reports of severe armyworm damage to heading rice fields.

The armyworm monitoring season has started. The first traps were set on April 19, and two more sites were set up on April 30. More traps will be set up in the following weeks as growers finish their ground work and get ready for planting.
