Huge turnout for today’s Farm to Fork Festival

Tens of thousands of people are in downtown Sacramento for today’s annual Farm to Fork Festival, and a steady stream continues to visit the California Rice Booth. The festival continues until 6:30 p.m. on Capitol Mall.

The entire CRC staff is operating the booth, which includes live rice plants, new drone footage, two new recipe cards and a host of materials to educate the public about why California Rice is important to our state’s economy, environment and cuisine. We handed out 2,000 eco-friendly bags with information about water efficiency and environmental benefits of rice.

In addition, ABC 10’s Mark S. Allen emceed our well-attended chef demonstration at noon, in which Craig Takehara of Binchoyaki Restaurant made two dishes – a dessert and appetizer – starring California Rice.

This festival includes a lot of interaction with the public, providing opportunities for them to learn about the many ways rice positively impacts our region.
