Intrepid® 2F Section 18 is Approved for Armyworm Control

Intrepid® 2F Section 18 is Approved for Armyworm Control

Intrepid® 2F received approval at the U.S. EPA in less than one week. The Department of Pesticide Regulation will notify the county agricultural commissioners and provide them with the section 18 label. Please make certain to have Intrepid® 2F on your pesticide permit at each county you plan to use the product.

It is through positive relationships and strong leadership at EPA and DPR that the application package moved so rapidly through the process.

All section 18 emergency exemptions are treated as restricted materials. The process allows unregistered use of the pesticide to meet an emergency need. Therefore, several requirements are necessary to justify the emergency and significant economic loss. We need your help in obtaining the yield loss data from this crop to support the section 18 in 2018. It is our intention to submit the application this winter so that it is ready for the 2018 use season.

The CRC is working to pursue the registration of Intrepid ® 2F on rice. However, the process to develop data and modify the current registration takes time.

Typically thought of as a program only for ‘specialty crops’ the Commission successfully made the case that the minor use of this insecticide on California rice qualified the proposal for consideration.
