Weedy Rice Guide, Poster and Website now available

Weedy Rice Guide, Poster and Website now available

We have partnered with the University of California Cooperative Extension to develop a series of tools to help with weedy rice, a significant issue that will take strong coordination to properly combat.

You will soon receive a brochure in the mail, to help in weedy rice identification and management. In addition, handlers will soon be provided with a poster that can help in their work to guard against weedy rice. Finally, a new website- caweedyrice.com – has been established to provide resources and updated information.

So far, 10,000 rice acres have been identified as infested, with five different weedy rice types discovered.

We will continue to work with UCCE to tackle this problem.
