Rice WDR Database to close this Friday

The online database for completing your Farm Evaluation and the Nitrogen Management Plan (NMP) will close this Friday, August 12, six months later than the original deadline. Please note that the Central Valley Water Board (CVWB) is pursuing heavy fines in other areas where growers have not complied.

Remember the Farm Evaluation and Previous Year NMP is from last year’s crop (2015).  If not already completed, please go to CalRiceNews.org and enter the last seven digits of your pesticide permit to fill out the Farm Evaluation and Nitrogen Management Plan (NMP) in that order. Please note, a rough estimate of your current year NMP is acceptable since it can be changed next year. To be completed, the Farm Evaluation, Previous Year NMP and the Current Year NMP must be filled out, saved, and printed for your records.

If you need more instructions, go to CalRiceNews.org under the WDR tab and hit “Start an Evaluation”. The database will reopen this winter for the 2016 crop reporting due by March 1, 2017.

Final Reminder to comply with Water Quality Reporting Requirements

Several of you will receive one final letter as a reminder to comply with the Rice Waste Discharge Requirements (Rice WDR) reporting requirement for Farm Evaluations and Nitrogen Management Plans. The WDR reporting requirements apply to all agricultural crops in the Central Valley. The reporting was due on March 1. We have kept the database open to assist you in fulfilling this regulatory requirement. We need to start the database management for next year, so will close the website on August 31, 2017.
