Thanks to our early warning system, a new armyworm outbreak in area rice fields is being dealt with promptly in Glenn and Sutter Counties. The CRC has a crisis section 18 emergency exemption request pending at the Department of Pesticide Regulation (DPR). The section 18 for methoxyfenozide (Intrepid® 2F) is an insect growth regulator that targets Lepidoptera pests, or the armyworms found in rice fields. READ MORE
Ballots for the Producer Election for the upcoming fiscal year were mailed out at the end of July. In order to be counted, your ballot must be postmarked in the pre-printed return envelope by Monday, August 17. The results will take at least two weeks to finalize by the California Department of Food & Agriculture. Once the results have been received, we will contact the winners and post results on calricenews.org.
After years of efforts to lay the groundwork for rice growers to participate in the new Regional Conservation Partnership Program (RCPP), the August sign-up period is now in full swing through August 28, 2015. We are pleased that the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) has worked closely with us to enable growers to sign-up for this program ahead of the upcoming harvest season. READ MORE
